Import From Excel

This import will import Sub-Accounts into the desired Sub-Table as well as import new properties or change existing ones.

Import Types

Sub-Account Import Type

This import type will also use the Add/Chg options

Add will add new Sub-Accounts as long as that Sub-Account code does not already exist in the system.

Change will overwrite information for Sub-Accounts that already exist.

oBe sure to fill in all fields being imported for changes.

oIf a column is specified it must contain a valid value for all Sub-Accounts being imported.

oIf there are some Sub-Accounts that you don't wish to change the value for, then isolate those changes in a separate import and omit the column that you don't want to change.

oIf any columns are left blank, then all information for that column will result in blanks for that information on the Sub-Account.

Template Grid

Field Name

This is the header information that will populate in the template. The columns in the template can be in any order as long as the header name matches the Field Name EXACTLY

Desc

This is information for you so you know what goes into each column.

Template?

The only required fields are the Sub-Account, Sub-Table and Description fields. Select the other items as needed.

Sub-Account Tab(s)

This indicates on which tab in Sub-Account Maintenance the information will populate. If the Sub-Account Tab(s) field is blank that means the information is populated at the top of the screen and is not in a tab.

Create Template

Clicking on Create Template will bring up a window asking where you would like to save the file.

The file will contain 2 tabs.

oThe Sub-Account tab is where you will enter in information that will then be imported into Pak Accounting.

oThe Instructions tab will give you information based on the columns selected. Such as, when the Sub-Table column is selected, a list of the current Sub-Tables are provided. You do not need to do anything with this tab. It is informational only.

The Tax ID Import Type

Clicking on Create Template will bring up a window asking where you would like to save the file.

The file will contain 2 tabs.

oThe TaxID tab is where you will enter in information that will then be imported into Pak Accounting.

oThe Instructions tab will give you information on each column. You may need to adjust the column width to better see the information.  You do not need to do anything with this tab. It is informational only.

After a template has been created and filled in, it's time to bring in the actual Import.

Click OK at the bottom of the screen.

This will bring up a window so you can browse to your import file.

Select the file and select Open on the window.

This import will validate the same way a manual add of a Sub-Account will validate. You will get a window indicated the Records Process, Records Changed/Inserted, and if there were errors. Click OK on this window to close it.

If the field being imported requires default data and nothing is defined for that field on the import, an error will occur for the import.
