Crude purchasers base the price they pay for crude oil on the specific gravity of the product. Most purchasers either penalize the seller for gravity outside a preferred range or reward them for gravity within a specific range. The production system provides the ability to handle these situations by using a user defined gravity scale matrix. This is used with Price Contracts.

The setup is basically the same on all the Scale Maintenance:
Click Add at the bottom of the screen to create a new Scale. Enter the Scale Code, the Scale Name, and any Comments related to the scale.
Use the “+” and “-“buttons at the bottom of the grid to add or remove lines on the scale. Enter in the From/Thru range for each Deduct. Enter in the corresponding criteria for each column.
Test at the bottom of the screen will allow you to run scenarios to test your calculations.
List will take you to Reports – Pricing/Payments tab. Use the reports on this screen to easily print lists of each of your scales.
